Coffee #1 - Penarth

Welcome to Coffee #1 - Penarth! Nestled on the picturesque Windsor Road in Cardiff, this coffee haven offers more than just your average caffeine fix. With a unique rustic kitchen ambiance that invites you to unwind, Coffee #1 is a blend of charm and flavor wrapped into a delightful experience.

As I step inside, I'm greeted by an inviting atmosphere that blends warmth with a trendy flair, making it an ideal spot for both casual meet-ups and solo retreats. The decor, reminiscent of a cozy, used kitchen, adds to the charm. However, customer reviews suggest that the service could be hit or miss, with several patrons noting a lack of attentiveness from staff.

Now, let’s talk about the real star of the show: the coffee. Coffee #1 - Penarth prides itself on serving high-quality brews. Whether you choose a classic caramel latte or an indulgent espresso, the coffees promise robust flavors that will make you yearn for more. One customer passionately described his large caramel latte adorned with extra caramel as a potion so potent that it turned his handwriting into a scribbled puzzle.

To complement your coffee, don't miss out on their pastries. The Portuguese Tart, with its rich egg custard filling, is a standout at just £2.30. It offers that sweet bite of indulgence—perfect alongside your morning brew or as a delightful afternoon treat.

While the quality of the coffee keeps patrons returning, it's evident that the service plays a crucial role in the overall experience. Many reviews reflect frustration with staff demeanor, with some describing encounters that felt less than welcoming. It seems that the magic of Coffee #1 has the potential to shine brighter with improved customer service.

Even with its mixed reviews, Coffee #1 - Penarth remains a charming coffee house worth visiting for its delightful brews and cozy atmosphere. If you're in the area, consider stopping by to enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee and perhaps a sumptuous pastry while soaking in the relaxed vibe.

Bit disappointed when visiting. Atmosphere and decor is always good, I like the used rustic kitchen type look, but the service always feels like you are intruding on the staffs social time. This time i was offered a choice of a "type" of coffee and unwittingly selected the option that cost more but wasn't told that I was buying the "upgraded" coffee. At least at other chains they tell you it will cost extra. Think I'll try one of the other coffee shops in Penarth next time

A Real Shame – Great Coffee, Awful StaffIt’s an absolute shame that Coffee serves such high-quality coffee because the experience is completely ruined by the rude, miserable staff. The place itself is somewhat clean, but the service is consistently terrible. Every time I’ve visited, I’ve been met with the same gloomy, unfriendly faces—it always seems to be the same women working there, and they clearly have no interest in making customers feel welcome. As someone who works in a café myself, I understand how demanding the job can be, but that’s no excuse to be so rude—especially when people are paying premium prices for their drinks. The worst experience I had was when my group simply moved a few chairs so we could all sit together, only to be snapped at and told to move them back. This happened multiple times, making us feel like an inconvenience rather than valued customers.I won’t be returning to Coffee —no matter how good the coffee is, the service completely ruins it. If you’re paying top prices, you should at least expect basic courtesy, but apparently, that’s too much to ask here. Avoid it unless you enjoy being treated like a nuisance.

I have always loved Coffee , and believe it is the best chain around this area. I order a large caramel latté with extra caramel and an extra shot, and after of those (I'm beginning number as I write), I can't think straight anymore, my handwriting goes completely wonky, and I forget the way home. That's the sign of a potent brew. The taste is good, but I've had doses of radiotherapy (yes, ninety-nine) on my throat area, so my taste buds are redolent of a bad night out in Mogadishu. The latté art is spot on, so I don't hold it against the (traditionally harassed) barista that he could only with great effort hold back a wince of distaste at my Philestinism when I said yes to his offer of a swirl of squirty caramel sauce on top of the accomplished rosette. I ran a coffee shop for a while, and I used to snarl at everyone even though my latté art was poop and I only knew how to make one type of drink, regardless of what was ordered. The atmosphere is lovely, and I'm here at pm on a Tuesday. It's gently buzzing and only disturbed by one SCREAMING baby, (too many ristretto, methinks). We look out onto the fairly dull Penarth main street; more stimulating to point your chair inwards - this cafe is surprisingly deep, with enough tables for me not to feel too guilty/awkward at taking up a potential seater on my lonesome. (To be honest, with a stoma in your neck and an electric voice, you get away with pretty much anything anywhere anyway - never underestimate the power of sympathy/revulsion). The atmosphere is in fact so pleasant that although I only came in for a takeaway cup, I've ended up staying for and a takeaway pecan/salted caramel brownie for my dear wife. Come to this cafe. I don't think you'll regret it
